The guest houses are situated on the very bank of The Don River, so you can settle comfortably on a chaise longue and fish right from the pier.
Besides traditional river types of fish you can find ruffs here who are very exigent to the quality of water. There is a legend that Peter the Great adored fish soup made of the Don ruffs which are better than ordinary ruffs and sterlets. Russian tsar offered this fish to his guests from overseas and gave a cart of frozen Don ruff to the most honored ones. Chub fishing is very interesting especially with a floating rod because this fish is known as a perfect fighter and a worthy adversary for a venturesome fisherman.
